Are the Inscriptions Wiped Off the Page?

i suppose we could imagine that this is a protestant story in some ways. If they are very willing to cross out the pope's name, and if theyre cherishing anne's memory, those two things might be connected by their faith at the time. But with this personal connection comes a suggestion that maybe they were connected also in that religious way as well. It feels like perhaps that remained in kind of similar religious circles as well. And you've only found this out becauseyou have lifted these erased inscriptions back off the page. Do we have any idea why they were erased, or when? i suspect that it was probably cleaned of all the inscriptions that didn't seem important
