The neres cultures accelerated into a competitive collection of societies where success against each other was essential for survival. So there was significant pressure for technological advances, and none more so than in the military industry. The assyrians them selves wen making advances in metal working. We can see one of the earliest advances of a scale armor - small bronze plates were being manufactured. It is also believed that the assyrian infantry on the early second millennium b c e would have worn metal helmets.
