The Dual Character of the Commodity

A thing can be useful in a product of human labor without being a commodity. If the thing is useless, so is the labor contained in it. The labor does not count as labor and therefore creates no value. So what he's done is to suddenly bring back use value into the idea of value. It doesn't matter what kind of labor went into something if it doesn't meet a human want, need or desire then it ain't value.
