The Asymmetries of Good and Evil in Spiritual Traditions

In the spiritual traditions very often evil is said to be the absence of that which is good and so figure like Socrates can say that the bad is actually a form of ignorance not understanding the good. These asymmetries show up constantly in spiritual traditions i think this is the significance of Plato's dialogue the phido  in which Socrates actually dies. The christian understanding of the cross as somehow a sacrifice that appeases divine reality or pays the price of sin or is a ransom to satan are false according to Dante.
