Shannon: I think the thing that comes between us and our perception of our belonging is honestly like our own internal dialogue and our internal stories so things like pressure expectations you know I should do this or else I have to do this. Shannon says perspectives that help running honestly feel a little bit smaller in the grand scheme of things help people with their sense of belonging. The most quickly effective way to work on your mental performance is to break it down into chunks, she says. "I would man more and more um seeing how impactful a sense of belonging is for athletes immediately too"
