Why Did Democrats Overperform in the Most Competitive Races?

The national popular vote average in the polls was very, very close to what actually happened. But when you look at our forecasts at the mean number of seats that we expected Republicans to pick up, there's more of a discrepancy. And the reason is because Democrats overperformed in the most competitive races,. whereas Republicans did quite well in races that weren't all that competitive.
