Hanging was a common punishment for viking raiders. The vikings had their own version of the word hang. And it's belie that their norse version blended with the english version in the north. This raises another big question, what happened when English speakers in the north encont those vikings and all their norse verbs? Did those verbs come in as strong verb or weak?)
