98. The Lottery Lawyer (Jason Kurland)

Swindled

CHAPTER

The Life of Billy Bob Harrell Jr.

Billy Bob Harrell Jr. won the lottery 20 years before it was legal for winners to remain anonymous. He spent his winnings on a ranch, antique cars, and art. His wife Barbara Jean filed for divorce eight months after they got their jackpot. Billy Bob cut a deal with a company out of Maryland called Stone Street Capital in exchange for 10 years of an annuity worth about $6 million. Less than a month and a half later, the $2.25 million he'd received from Stone Street Capital for his half of the trust had already been depleted. On May 22nd, 1999, Billy Bob Harold Jr. stripped naked and loaded the shotgun he had brought with him.
