The Extended Phenotype

The extended phenotype is not something that's part of the body. It's something outside the body. And so it might be something like a bird's nest, which is made of grass or made of whatever comes by the web and twigs and mud. So from a Darwinian point of view, I think it should be seen as a manifestation of genes because it's clearly a Darwinian adaptation.
