The Disadvantages of a Primary Service for Neurology
The patient was on a neurology primary service. We were primary until it was time to get the cardiology part kind of prepared for surgery. The lack of him being able to describe what was going on must have really been a big barrier in getting to the bottom of what's going on. I hope all future cases of endocarditis present in reverse order of this one because I think very likely to at least have a diagnostic delay if not miss it for a while even with an identical presentation.
