Puton's Pretence to War
The russian autocrat feels the need to concoct such a pretence to war. The proximate answer involves gio politics, the relationship of nato in the west with russia and economic leverage. Putten and his oligarch billionaire buddies could easily just buy whatever it is they want from ukraine using the same method most other countries use, trade. But apparently, puton would rather be the seller than the buyer.
