The problem is that somebody noticed that this marketplace of ideas worked so well, that they should hook it up to power. And instead of power going solely down from the marketplace of ideas into the organs of execution, power came back up the pipe and contaminated the marketplace of idea. Because there was no way to put a valve on it, suddenly what started to happen is the ideas that felt powerful, that felt relevant, that made an impact began to gain our Darwinian advantage in the marketplace of Ideas.
