The Laundry Machine Has Changed the World
By the mid nineteenth century, the ringer had been invented. A series of rollers that attached to the side of a bucket through which the othes would pass while you cranked a lever. When modern electric washing machines with spin ryers were introduced in the 19 thirties, women locked to buy them. The experience of plugging in that machine for the first time was nearly magical, like it was for hans rosling's grandma.
