When I Was 9 Years Old, I Was Home Alone

As a child, both my parents work full time and sometimes they couldn't find or afford a babysitter. So I would be home alone until either one of them returned from work. There were two main rules: never answer the door; don't play too close to the windows in case someone is watching. Even today as a 34 year old female, I still think about what could have been.
