William and the Young Prince of Wales - A Brief History

On december 11th 1689 james himself tried to flee abroad and on his way out of london he threw the great seal of state into the tems trying to prevent william from being able to take up rulership if he took the city. The committee in london formally asked william and mary to come into the city and take up government so then there was a period of crisis you could say a sort of interregnum where james was still alive but he was abroad. On february 6th the english parliament convenes at west minster declared that james had abdicated by virtue of fleeing the country they then offered the crown jointly to william
