The Workhouse School
Workhouses in the ennth century are normally seen as a punishment for the poor, not something to support them really. Their lives are not horrible there, but they're y regimented. They are supposed to be doing some specific every moment of ther time. The only time that they can actually leave the workhouse is on sunday. It's slightly better because at least they get some education, a tiny bit, and they may be apprenticed afterwards. Solitary confinement, instead of beatings. I'm not sure that's progress.
