The Point of Philosophy

Knowing something is not the same as believing something and it's being true. You can have true beliefs and not know the thing. We haven't yet understood whether they're in a state of knowledge or as it were just happening to get things right about the way things are. If I do see something and the world is actually the way that I see it is, that doesn't by itself on this conception of knowledge give me knowledge because it might just be that I happen to be perceiving something that is exactly the wayThings are. But in order to have knowledge I have to see that things are the way they are and in some sense rather know that they are.
