Quantum Mechanics and the Perception of a Physical World
In quantum mechanics, there are certain properties such as the no cloning theorem where you can have a wave function which is unable to be copied in principle. So what does this mean for human subjective experience? Well, if you are a quantum system that obeys the three different properties, the measurement principle would essentially dictate that everything is physical. You've never seen a superposition, because every time you measure it, it gets collapsed into a particle. But through repeated experimentation, we can see the interference pattern. And so we can infer and we know that superpositions and wave functions are real, even though you can never directly measure them yourself. They're kind of like a statistical phenomena, if
