The Pros and Cons of Splicing in a Recording

Glenn Gould recorded the first book of Johann Sebastian Bach's Well-tempered Kavir. The fugue in a minor was one of only two instances of overdubbing during his career. He also used regeneration, where he duplicated an earlier performance and moved it to its correct position. His transcription of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony featured unplayable fourth movement.
