Neither the body nor the mind are mine. This is the fundamental insight which is given to us in a dwetavedant. As astavacra says, everything is revealed to me by consciousness. The senses and the perceptions which i get pleasure, pain, theyare also not me nor mine. They're no more yours than youre. When you watch your movie on a screen, are you the movie? No. Is the movie yours in some sense? No, it's not me. We have made a clear distinction between two things, consciousness and everything else,. Now the great question arises, what is the relationship between you, the awareness and everything else, including this body?
"I, the One, illumine this body and also reveal this universe. Therefore, mine is all this universe or indeed nothing is mine." Inspired by this verse from the Ashtavakra Gita, Swami Sarvapriyananda speaks on the nature of the Self.
