Doctor Lewis Haines's Death

Doctor lewis haines is drowning. Two delirious sailors are pushing him under water, and no matter how hard he punches and flails, he can't break free from their grip. So he stops fighting. He remains still. Why delay the inevitable? The thought of never seeing his family again is unbearable. In a sudden burst, haines curls up his legs and kicks out with all his mightan slamming the two sailors away from the startled men release their grip long enough in to shoot up to the surface. Haines takes a deep gulp of air, and then he starts swimming like mad.
