Family, religion and nation all help in the forming of your identity. The child knows who his mother and father is, knows who the siblings are And he's part of an entity there, which creates a cocoon of security Which helps formation of an identity, who you are. If you were brought up by a single parent I am sure you will feel, and you'll be capable of remembering Defects in the formation of your identity, a sense of who you really are.
