The Kessler Syndrome
The Kessler syndrome is going to be something like that, but much slower where first you have a defunct satellite hits another satellite. And it creates a little bit of debris that spreads out over time and some of that debris maybe months, maybe years later hits something else. The best thing to do is face the problem head on today, invest what it's going to take to minimize the consequences downstream. Will we do it? History says no.
