As neuropsychologists we are often sort of handcuffed on not really having a great understanding of where our patients started. In most clinical settings that's just not achievable you know nobody walks into an emergency department with their original Wexler scale score on the back of their driver's license for instance. Jeff Barth and his partner in crime Steve Machocki at the University of Virginia back in the early 90s identified what they later called the SLAM model sports laboratory assessment model.
