I Think the Chinese Communist Party Is Going to Have Trouble Living in Either World
I think China doesn't have a whole lot of interest in either piece of the liberal international order and so try the Chinese Communist Party. The policies it has pursued are frankly mercantilist and predatory they are designed to allow China to dominate key industries. That that's not the liberal internationalist vision of how the international economy is supposed to work. I think under under Xi Jinping you've certainly seen tremendous backslide, we can see it reflected in everything from zero COVID to its new economic policy.
