Robert Redford says he chose Alan Pecula to direct all the President's Men because of the paralex view, which came out this summer of Nixon's resignation. The movie begins with the assassination of an American senator atop the Space Needle in Seattle. Three years later, reporter Joe Frady gets a visit from his ex-girlfriend who witnessed the assassination. She tells him that other witnesses have recently turned up dead. He goes undercover and discovers a mysterious organization called the Paralex Corporation.
