The Importance of Cognitive Science in Teaching

A good understanding of how students learn and a thorough grounding in that is really helpful. The need to respond to the information you gain from short cycle formative assessment should inform a decision to reteach things they haven't understood, not just grind on regardless. And then being mindful when you're facing a classroom, is everybody thinking? Is everyone able to check their knowledge and review it? It's just some, it's not enough. So those are the main things I would say.
