Medicare's 13 Month Lease to Own Program
The way that Medicare does this is really interesting. If you order a hospital bed or a wheelchair or a walker and then patient like qualifies, Medicare begins a 13 month lease to own with the durable medical equipment supplier. After those 13 months, guess what? You own that bed, which means if it breaks after that 13 months, no one will fix it. And then you may not be due for another new one for five years or 10 years, depending upon the piece of equipment.
