Introduction
Dante loves pivotal and transitional moments. He's always alert to them in the divine comedy, he says. The most dramatic perhaps is when he and Virgil are stuck outside walls of inferno. But then an angel appears like a storm coming across the brackish water. It mocks the demons that have been mocking Virgil and Dante. And it disappears almost as quickly as it had arrived.
