The Inside View

CHAPTER

The Importance of Open Science in AI

I'm basically saying that we will not program AI's to do just only chemically available tasks because it's not in our self-interest. There are certain physical bottlenecks that I could imagine would also play a role. In the interest of just predicting the future, I think there's a huge, rich diversity of all the things we could use AI for. It's sort of like a federation, federated learning kind of scenario where everybody has they can share some parts of the data. You have computers in your pockets right now. It's not unreasonable to imagine that there's AI assistance that we could train for our own personal use.
