Gravity and the Standard Model
The standard model has been enormously successful at explaining experimental results. But it does contain a few gaps, and an extension called supersymmetry suggests that particles are connected through a deep relationship. So far, particle accelerators such as the large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland have not found any such partners despite being explicitly designed to do so.
