"I wasn't mature enough or experienced enough to, you know, it was my first movie," he said. "It's like directors cut to me always in pause like, boy, the studio took away my movie and I didn't ever get to sit." The final reedit is meant to just be a little bit more whole than the original version, says director Tom Hanks.
