Jeanette's first therapist told her that what she was going through was abuse at 21. That was too early to absorb that information, Jeanette says. If the person who betrays you is someone on whom you depend, "you essentially need to ignore the betrayal" You come out of 'betrayal blindness' when you're able to handle the information and can look at it squarely - like anorexic Jeanette has done with herself.
