The Eight Deadly Sins

In his original work though, he did not call it the seven deadly sins. He called them the eight deadly thoughts because Evagrius and all the fathers and mothers pointed out that sin starts as a thought in your mind. If you can stop it before it ever goes anywhere close to that deep, if you can guard your inner person...you save yourself so much pain later on.
