One straight from my experience that i feel is underrated is having a few years under your belt of not doing church ministry, but working like secular vocation. I think when you go from college straight to seminary and straight to the pastorate, it will take a longer time to really understand your congregation. And so for me, like i when i worked as an educator, that was like my career with no pastoral ministry in sight at all. It's different having a job while you're at nary, verses having a career.
