No human is perfectly altruistic or altruism might be a loaded term. Some EA's try to justify it saying things like, well, by having friends, it's going to make me more effective as an altruist. I don't necessarily think that most EA's justified that way. But I definitely see a strain of that where these normal activities are recast and sort ofEA lens.
