The dominant narrative here again is that the woman doesn't actually go out and fight herself but she supports with words and money the men her husband or her son who are actually leading the crusade. I think if we get to a point we can say maybe does Columbus ever go on his voyage west if the Reconkister hasn't happened and Isabella is in a position to back you know a speculative voyage to the west. That's an aspect of crusading where we can perhaps extrapolate more female involvement.
