This marked the start of the DeFi revolution and the birth of a more open, transparent and inclusive financial system.
Four years later and DeFi has exploded in popularity, with thousands of DeFi protocols now allowing for borrowing, lending, and trading without a centralised third party on a massive scale. DAOs are taking up the banner and rapidly expanding in purpose and scope, fueling investments in DeFi and across Web3.
