Leland Melvin was drafted by the Detroit Lions to play professional football. After an injury cut his NFL career short, Leland pursued a Masters Degree in Materials and Science Engineering from the University of Virginia. He was eventually approached by NASA and encouraged to apply to become an astronaut candidate. His dream of flying in space was sparked. Here's Leland Melvin, live at the Moth.
