How Does the Bible Affect Your Views on God?

When i as a kid, i thought of the bible as a history book. We believed in some fashion that when king james commissioned the bible to be translated into english, that the holy spirit came back and re interpreted it. And soonand it took me long time to ever think about anything in scripture as different than what i had been raised.
