The Long Tradition of Indian Entrepreneurship

The textile mill owners who at certain points in Gandhi's career funded him help to set up Saba Mati Ashram. They are incidentally the grandparents of the people who are now in the process of creating Amda Baid University where I am now. The money emerging from textiles which then goes into the purchase of other forms of economic success in Western India and almost a hundred years later you find it being used for this vision of education. But they came a point after independence where they were displaced by the rise of textile production in other parts of the world particularly in East Asia.
