The Southern Aurora

The Aurora is the universe's free television set to give you entertainment. And it ties in with the relationship between the sun and the Earth's magnetic field. Sun, big ball, burns about 620 million tons of stuff every second. It will throw a big ball of really hot gas, say a billion tons, and it'll start running towards the Earth. If you're too close to the magnetic pole, you don't see anything. You've got to be the right distance out from it. The aurora rippling across the United Kingdom and France was just amazing.
