The Beirut Port Explosion Case Is Sacred to Me

Hassan Diyab is now the first Prime Minister in Lebanon's history to be charged. He was forced to resign days after the blast but later returned as caretaker PM. Hezbollah protested the charges and accused the judge of leading a highly politicized investigation that targeted only certain political forces. Judge Fadi Sawan has been removed from the investigation on the basis that his own home had been damaged in the blast. Tarrick Batar, a 47-year-old politically non-affiliated judge who poses a serious threat to those in power, will take up the case.
