The Cost of Cruelty
The Christian answer comes back again and again to say, the story that we tell is a story in which God himself has come in person to take the full force of all that evil onto himself. So this isn't a philosophical answer, it's a way of saying that the philosophical question needs to be confronted by the actual Israel narrative reaching its climax in Jesus. And then the church's agenda in the power of the Spirit must be to say, okay, if we are the people who celebrate Jesus' victory over the powers of evil, we must be the people in and through communities injustice, oppression, wickedness, lies are actually being dealt with.
