The Tower of Babel Story

Hebrew speaking scribes had little love for the older culture of babylon. The exiled israelites were intimidated by its ancient and storied literary and religious culture. No wonder those verses of genesis show the old testament god saying, incredulously, look, they are one people and they have all one language.
