When I'm using lots of white space and it's not for dialogue, if I were to use it for something like the magnified moment, what I would be doing is calling out important pieces of that moment. Because a magnified moment is generally going to be big blocks of text. What Howard is saying is you need to interrupt those big blocks oftext with small lines set off on themselves in order to create a rhythm in this scene.
