Early instance of viral marketing bia usigenerated content and blurring the line between fact and fiction. It got people emotionally invested in what they thought, even if briefly, was the real life danger of an innocent person involved with a cult. We also know that social media has increasingly become a major vector for simulated or fake news and the political theatre it inspires. And as the wheel keeps turning for real cults like cumanon based on conspiracy theories about false cults like the blood drinking democrat petifil cabal.
