Papo New Guinea - The Art and Politics of Nature

In the 19 seventies, there was a really unusual cross over between art and politics. Among those writers were many people who became powerful politicians in independent new guinea. There was this literary efflorescence for a few years before all these people went off to become politicians. In an excerpt from one of their poems, John cazep wolliver uses the imogry of a mountain to try and express this emerging sense of papo new guinea and political identity.
