Introduction

Consumer sentiment had rebounded late last year or to early part of this year, which had buoyed many people's hopes that the US economy would be able to avoid recession. Some took that a little bit further and said, there'd be too much economic activity it would restart inflation all over again. Now that hasn't happened we've got some data about CPIs and PPIs this week which suggests more disinflation if not deflation and not. We also have consumer sentiment numbers that suddenly seem to have hit an air pocket just like oil prices did a little over a week ago.
