Is Open Source a Better Model Than Open Source?

If the code is open source for the core functionality then wouldn't a company like Facebook just rather hire people to implement their own version. I don't know it would be such a nightmare and one of those big companies to change all the ETL to use this system. No, that never you could have full time customer support people who are like helping but they would never like outsource that work. Because it's like so core to the business you need like that accountability.
